The La Brea Industrial Development Company Limited (LABIDCO) has donated a 3kW (kilowatt) solar photovoltaic (PV) system to La Brea resident, Cindy Williams. LABIDCO says the solar system is capable of powering LED lights, washing machine, 32-inch TV, fan, and electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops. The La Brea Industrial Development Company Limited (LABIDCO) has donated a 3kW (kilowatt) solar photovoltaic (PV) system to La Brea resident, Cindy Williams – providing her with a reliable supply of electricity for the first time in 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to the restrictions brought on by the Public Health Regulations, Ms. Williams, a single mother of nine, used her home to operate a registered pre-school for children within her community. LABIDCO, whose operations is in La Brea, selected Ms. Williams for this initiative after confirmation that she was in legal possession of the land she currently occupies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
LABIDCO\u2019s Chairman, Conrad Enill, made a courtesy visit to Ms. Williams\u2019 home last Sunday (November 28th) to observe the operation of the solar PV system. During the visit, Mr. Enill, who is also Chairman of LABIDCO\u2019s parent company, The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC), spoke with Ms. Williams and indicated that the companies have reengineered their CSR initiatives to focus on projects and initiatives that are aligned with the government\u2019s goal of promoting a low carbon economy. He reaffirmed LABIDCO\u2019s support to the La Brea community and committed that there will be other similar initiatives in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The solar system, which was recently installed by RESSCOTT\u2019s Solar Energy Charitable Foundation, is capable of powering LED lights, washing machine, 32-inch TV, fan, and electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the installation, La Brea residents who were recently trained in the installation of solar PV systems by LABIDCO\u2019s sister company, National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (National Energy), were provided the opportunity for hands-on experience in installing the 3kW system on Ms. Williams home. National Energy also donated five laptops to Ms. Williams to assist her children with their virtual schooling.
