The civil society group comprised of prominent and outspoken Guyanese such as Chartered Accountant and Attorney-at-Law, Christopher Ram and telecommunications specialist, Yog Mahadeo; Economist, Ramon Gaskin among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Article 13 urges more time for electoral reform consultations<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stabroeknews.com\/2021\/11\/29\/news\/guyana\/article-13-urges-more-time-for-electoral-reform-consultations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stabroek News<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-says fundamental areas excluded<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Civil society group, Article 13 on Saturday called for the extension of consultations for proposed electoral reforms and warned that key areas had been neglected in the draft changes presented by the government.&nbsp;\u201cArticle 13 calls on the Government to immediately extend the period of consultation which ends on December 17, and to engage in meaningful consultation with the people of the country. Since 2015, the institution has been providing advice to Guyana\u2019s authorities. The Institute noted that in most natural resource-rich countries, when a company is seeking the right to explore for or produce oil, gas or minerals, sector, rules require that regulators check some basic information before granting the company a license and accompanying contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Expert says major oil discoveries outside of Stabroek Block is almost certain:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/oilnow.gy\/featured\/expert-says-major-oil-discoveries-outside-of-stabroek-block-is-almost-certain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OilNOW<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the 6.6 million acres Stabroek Block remains the largest license under exploration and development in Guyana where the motherload of commercial hydrocarbons have been found, one expert says it is almost certain that substantial discoveries will eventually be made at the adjacent blocks. \u201cI think that there definitely is going to be commercial finds outside the Stabroek Block.
