Chile government to study ending power supply concession to Enel unit

Chile’s government said on Friday it will study whether Italian electricity distributor Enel’s (ENEI.MI), opens new tab local unit meets the terms of a concession to operate in the country after thousands of customers were left without power following a storm.

The technical analysis will likely take from six to 18 months, electricity superintendent Marta Cabeza said.

The government had accused Enel of being slow to get thousands of customers in the Santiago area back on the grid in the aftermath of a storm earlier this month.
