The volume of gas reinjected into Brazilian oil wells reached a new record in January, according to oil and gas regulator ANP.
Reinjection was 13pc up on December, at 68.5mn m³/d (2.42bn ft³/d), and 18pc up on the year, breaking the previous record of 67mn m³/d in September 2021.
Last month’s natural gas availability — production, minus reinjection, flaring and consumption on platforms — was at its lowest since September, at 50.1mn m³/d — down by 7.9pc from December and by 18pc compared with January 2021.
Brazilian natural gas production was running at 137mn m³/d last month, up by 0.8pc on the year and 3.6pc on December.
The amount of gas consumed at production platforms for operations was 9.9pc up on the year and 7.7pc up on the month, at 15.4mn m³/d. Flaring increased by 11pc on the year, but was 2.9pc down on December, at 3.2mn m³/d.
