Russia and Venezuela are negotiating the restructuring of the Republic’s debt, Pyotr Kazakevich, director of the Department of State Debt and State Financial Assets of the Russian Finance Ministry, told Interfax.

During the Russian-Venezuelan intergovernmental commission, he also said that the countries are discussing the mutual opening of accounts, clearing settlements and settlements in national currencies.

In October, the Russian Finance Ministry reported that Venezuela made another payment on its debt to Russia.

“Venezuela has made another payment on its debt to Russia,” the press service said, without specifying the exact amount of the payment. Venezuela’s total debt to Russia was $3 billion.

In late April, First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Russia expects that Venezuela will be able to make another payment of $200 million on its debt to Russia in the fall.

Venezuela made its previous payment of $100 million, which was due in March, in mid-April and met the deadline when it could pay without penalties.
